Finally went with a bottomless portafilter. I used my ascaso basket as it gets a better extraction than what came with this. The walnut handle was a little dry so I oiled that with olive oil. After grinding, I hit it with a leveler and then tamp and it extracts nicely. I don't have a needle tool and don't see the need as it all extracts very well. Good portafilter for the money and shipped within a two week period.
